Jubilo sustained extensive punctures and deep scratches to the hull when she was swept off her moorings in the middle reaches of the River Tamar near Plymouth during a severe storm.
During what the Met Office announced as “the stormiest period of weather the UK has experienced for at least 20 years” fierce waves took her across the Tamar.
The force of the swell and 90 mph winds launched the GRP Sparkman and Stephens designed yacht at a granite quay that she smashed against until the storm moved on.
The owner’s insurance company recommended that we undergo the repair. Her dated composite materials were a challenge to work with but we fully repaired her with advanced composites. We also had to remove and reinstate a significant part of the interior fit out due to damage from the percussive impact of the quay.
